Supporting A Hospital Group With A 100 And 1000 Year Vision For Health

It is a hundred year vision and a 1000 year vision which inspired the establishment of Sri Narayani Hospital & Research Centres. The institution is situated in Thirumalaikodi, a tiny hamlet about 9 kilometres from Vellore. Its prime objective since inception is to provide quality medical service to the less privileged rural population, at a level on par with hospitals of metropolitan cities.

Through our medical programs we donate medical equipment to support self-determined medical goals for hospitals in India.   By donating medical equipment, medicines and medical disposables, our goal is to improve care and subsidize any cost of the health care needs of the local communities each hospital serves.

We support The Sri Narayani Hospital and Allied Medical Services Group that serves Vellore and and Tiruvannamalai Districts in Tamil Nadu State, South India.  This medical organization is a charitable group that operates on a nonprofit basis to serve the health needs of local communities.

The Hospital Group includes The Sri Narayani Hospital and Research Centre, The Sri Sakthi Amma Hospital, and Sakthi Amma Clinics.

The educational organizations include The Sri Narayani College of Nursing, The College of Allied Health Sciences,  The Institute of Paramedicals and related medical services.  Currently the Sri Sakthi Amma College of Pharmacy and College of Physiotherapy have been established and are under construction.

The charitable purposes of this group are to train doctors, nurses and technicians in order to provide excellent quality healthcare that is both affordable and available. This  affordable and often free health care is offered to under-served rural, urban and indigenous people of the Vellore and Tiruvannamalai District communities in South India.

The Philosophy of Sri Narayani Hospitals

Declaration for Establishing the Hospital

“When any educational or medical institution is established, the sole aim is to make a business of it. There are few who are ready to set up institutions to provide free facilities for the poor. Therefore, from the start we decided to set up a large Hospital near Thirumalaikodi, Vellore. “

“What is the plight of the poor? Who looks after them? If they go to the cities, they will not even get basic medicine. Recognizing this fact, we have launched this big hospital project. Whatever it is, a heart bypass operation, or a kidney transplant, or a lung operation or brain surgery or eye surgery, everything will be done at a subsidized price. This has been decided upon from the very start of the Project.”

“Thirumalaikodi has become the cynosure of all eyes in the world. Above all, you should enquire why a highly sophisticated and most modern hospital, which should be located in a well-developed metropolis, has been set up in this rural area. The wealthy can go anywhere and get medical relief with their abundant resources. But the rural poor cannot go far from their villages for treatment. It is for the sake of such poor folk that this hospital has been established.

This is a gigantic project. It is intended to benefit people for a Thousand years. This hospital has been set up to provide relief to villagers suffering from aliments. No distinction is made, however, between villages and cities. Diseases do not afflict only villagers. Sickness makes no territorial distinctions. Likewise, there will be no differentiation in providing relief. Our intention is to provide relief to all who come.”

Project Arogya - Free Community Health Outreach

Project ‘Arogya’ is a free community medical outreach for screening and providing basic equipment to disabled children in rural areas. ‘Arogya’ has expanded to include the provision of financial assistance to the families of 350 children who require major heart surgery every year. Free wheelchairs, tricycles, calipers, crutches and artificial limbs are provided to hundreds of physically disabled children from rural backgrounds.

State Of The Art affordable rural health care

Financial assistance is also provided to those in critical conditions. Under this program, many clinics were opened in various villages to render medical care to the rural populace and tribals.

Sri Narayani Hospital and Research Center is a state-of-the-art, affordable rural healthcare center established to provide quality medical care to people living in Vellore and 58 neighboring villages. It has since changed the lives of thousands of people in the region. An average of 25,000 patients visit the hospital every month and in many cases medical care is given at no cost.

From The Hospital’s Director

The Sri Narayani Hospital provides free services to the poor & needy including free treatment. Surgeries, diagnostics, imaging, free food, free medicines and follow-up care by devoting resources and expertise to the investigations of problems contributing to health disparities in minority populations, we can translate our understanding into clinical application to serve and improve the community.

The institute is actively organizing numerous community outreach programs in our adopted villages in and around Vellore. We have set up the super specialities of cardiothoracic Surgery and Oncology. The Institute has already made its remarkable change in the Healthcare education.
