Indian Poverty Relief Programs - A Double Your Donation Campaign Through 2026!

any underserved areas in Vellore and Thiruvanamalai Districts of Tamil Nadu face hunger, poverty, and limited access to quality health care. Poor nutrition increases the risk of diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, respiratory illnesses, malaria, dengue, and Covid. In these communities, inadequate nutrition worsens health outcomes for both children and adults.

Donate today and double your impact.

*Donations will be matched through this campaign to a total of $5,000 for a total program impact of $10,000 until January 31, 2027 through our Scholarship Fund

We support local Indian Charity food programs that serve traditional nutritious meals to thousands of people yearly.

Indian Double The Food Program*

Canadians Sharing Locally and Globally works with established local registered charities to provide food that enhances the local charities’ nutritional programs. Canadians Sharing purchases essential food items and donates them either for direct distribution to individuals or for preparation and serving by our charity partners.

Our charitable-outreach-locations are chosen based on immediate needs, including disaster relief, assistance for Tribal communities in poverty, support for underserved rural or urban populations, and aid for destitute street people with disabilities. Typical food donations include rice, dahl, wheat, cracked wheat, oil, tamarind, and spices. Our charity partners handle distribution, select sites, prepare meals, and ensure food reaches those most in need.

Remarkably, a generous all-you-can-eat meal for 100 adults and children costs as little as $150 for the ingredients.

*Donate today and double your impact. Canadians Sharing will match donations up to a total of $5,000 – generating an overall impact of $10,000 – until January 31, 2027.

Indian Tribal Welfare Program

Home to many tribal people, India has the second largest tribal population in the world. These communities form an essential part of Indian society and possess distinct languages, traditions, cultures, heritage, and customs.

These tribal kids benefit from our Indian Tribal Welfare Program

Despite their significance, tribal communities in the regions served by Canadians Sharing often experience substantial economic insecurity and subsist on challenging farmland. Canadian Sharing’s goal is to contribute to meaningful improvements in the lives of tribal men, women, and children as they navigate various difficulties in their daily existence.

The Tribal Welfare Program foresees a future where tribal communities thrive and overcome traditional socio-economic challenges by providing:

  • educational supports to bridge the educational gaps among tribal children
  • fully equipped computer centres to train tribal children in digital technology
  • blankets and clothing to supplement the basic clothing needs of tribal communities

Indian School Breakfast Program - Breaking The Cycle of Poverty

Canadians Sharing is supporting a morning breakfast program to give rural kids access to high-quality nutrition. Many of the children we support struggle with food insecurity and often miss out on a nutritional breakfast to start their day.

The Indian School Breakfast Program offers – for free – a wholesome, multigrain porridge developed by nutritionists, ensuring students receive balanced nourishment each morning.

Our breakfast program supplies grade school students with a healthy start to their day

Healthy Habits

Research has shown children who eat a nutritious breakfast before school tend to:

  • achieve higher test scores in math, spelling, and reading
  • demonstrate improved brain function and energy
  • maintain better focus and mood
  • build lifelong healthy eating habits

Research has also shown that kids who do better in school do better in life. They gain knowledge and skills critical to earning a higher income, empowering them to build a better life for themselves, their family and their community.

The cost of the ingredients for all the students is about CAD$ 2,050 monthly and per  year CAD$22,600. That’s only CAD $12 to sponsor a healthy breakfast for one student for 11 months.  We’re focused on serving over 650,000 breakfasts and a great meal for over 2000 kids yearly.
