Relieving the Effects of Poverty

Here volunteers are giving 600 well-made rain jackets to tribal students in the remote hills south of Vellore, Tamil Nadu. The jackets shield the students from very cool, wet weather common throughout the fall, winter and spring in this remote jungle area. As we distributed the jackets in November, 2013, many of the students were coughing and sneazing and winter had not yet begun. In India, like many other parts of the world, people called “Tribals” represent some of the poorest, most dis-empowered communities.
