International Vocational Equipment
Program Goal: To Facilitate Vocational Training by supplying training equipment like sewing machines and sewing supplies to our charitable partners at Sripuram .
Target Budget for this program: $5000
Program Benefit: Women are selected who are most likely to benefit from the vocational program. Special consideration is provided for those who are the sole wage earners in their families and live in underserved communities in the area. Over 30 women and their families benefit from this program.
How the Program Works in South India:
Canadians Sharing Locally and Globally partners with a charitable non-government Indian organization in Southern India, The Sri Narayani Siddar Peedam Charitable Trust. The Peedam Trust
operates the SAAAM Vocational Program which teaches women basic job skills to augment family income. We donate sewing machines and sewing related supplies such as fabrics, thread, and scissors to support vocational sewing machine training for women living in poverty. The Peedam Trust teaches sewing and specialty sewing so that participants can gain achieve financial independence and build more sustainable livelihoods for their families. Women supported by our International Training Equipment Programs are taught and work in safe environments where violence is prohibited.
